LiveMaths KS3 and GCSE

Posted in Resources at 11:44 pm by Paul Venkatesh

LiveMaths has launched its maths tuition covering the UK KS3 and GCSE syllabus for 11 to 16 year olds. This joins the existing A Level coverage launched earlier this year. Please have a look at our site and the sample videos and get back to me with any feedback. If you are interested in subscribing, you can use the voucher code “PVG2008″ on the subscription page which will give you a £5 discount. Please feel free to pass this on to others you think might be interested in our service.

LiveMaths Website

Posted in Uncategorized, Resources at 9:17 am by Paul Venkatesh

I have recently launched my new website which some of you may be interested in. It is a subscription site providing online video tuition for A Level Maths . This has the benefit that the student can work at their own pace, and is also much more affordable than hiring a maths tutor.

More C++ questions

Posted in Interview Help at 9:23 am by jhom

Some more C++ questions…

What’s wrong with the following:
string& method()
{
return string::string(”Hello!”);
}

What methods would you expect to find in a smart pointer class?

What’s potentially wrong with this:
{
mutex.lock(); // grabs a mutex semaphore
method1();
method2();
mutex.unlock(); // releases the mutex
}
Can you suggest any improvements?

Linda Purton

Harlow Star - Linda Purton

Some sad news about Linda Purton from Tony Hills via Chris Lincoln. I have inserted the appropriate bit from the Harlow Star.

Very sad news I’m afraid. Speaking to Keith Caves today (he’s out of hospital now and doing OK), I understand that Linda died on 1st July after a short illness according to a brief announcement in the Harlow Star.

I believe the funeral is in Harlow on Tuesday morning at the crematorium but don’t have any details as we don’t get the Harlow Star (the freeby) delivered round our way anymore.
